Uncork Nova Scotia and The Flying Apron Cookery bring you a truly unique wine and culinary experience!
Spend the day in wine country learning about the thriving Nova Scotia wine industry and sampling a variety of cool climate wines at award-winning wineries and learn to prepare fantastic dishes like a professional chef!
Enjoy the scenic drive to the Avon River Valley as we explore the roads less traveled on our way to our first stop, The Flying Apron Cookery. You'll take part in a 2 hour cooking demonstration of your lunch by Chef Chris Velden featuring fresh locally sourced ingredients to make the most amazing traditional Nova Scotia dishes. Each tour will have a special theme and you'll even get the recipes to take home so you can make them again! Then enjoy your delicious lunch with a glass of specially selected Nova Scotia wine.
Then the tour continues with visits to two award-winning wineries for private tours and wine tastings! Our first winery is Avondale Sky Winery, a gently sloping property on the Avon Peninsula, surrounded by the St Croix and Avon rivers. Following a tour of the vineyard with its beautiful views, enjoy a "divine" wine tasting in the old church from the 1830s that was converted into the wine shop.
Then it’s on to Sainte-Famille Wines in nearby Falmouth, celebrating 25 years of winemaking this year! The vineyard is one of the oldest in Nova Scotia and the owner Suzanne is a pioneer in the industry. Suzanne will lead you through a tasting of her unique wines and answer any questions.
At the end of your tour, you’ll be returned to Halifax, perhaps with your purchases of the wines you liked! You didn’t receive a complimentary tote bag to keep it empty, after all.
